ASIS asked security experts with different specialties, functions and geographies what they viewed as the most significant security trends and developments in 2023. They came up with 23 answers, broken down into six categories: Global/geopolitical conflicts; evolving threat vectors (things like AI and insider threat); legal and regulatory issues; security technology (unified access management and the “zero trust” model where among the four); crime and crime prevention; and professional issues, events and trends.
Unsurprisingly, convergence was a big talking point on the list. According to security expert Brzozowksi, “Physical and cyber convergence is maturing, specifically where cybersecurity protocols like 802.1X being employed in access control and CCTV systems.” We couldn’t agree more.
